There is lots to do in and around the region. Torrevieja town is a favorite especially in the evenings. The place comes alive with a funfair for children and adults. A street market with a variety of traders selling souvenirs, bags, watches, pictures, wooden craft and many other items. There are many wonderful beaches, all easily found. Most are sandy but be careful you don't go to one of the rocky coves. Water parks are a must in the summer when it gets quite hot, try Aqualand just off the N332 at Torrevieja, Aqualandia near Benidorm, about 50 minutes drive away or the local park at Quesada.
Go inland and discover the true Spain, old towns and villages, orange groves and peaceful countryside. Catch a train from Orihuela to Alicante and visit the Castell for birds eye view of the Town. The town of Guadalest is well worth a visit situated in the hills behind Benidorm.
Wherever you go don't forget to take plenty of water.
